Thank you for all of your donations for our Turkey Trot Fundraiser!  On Wednesday, November 23rd, we had our school-wide Turkey Trot.  The students had so much fun!  Thank you to all those you helped to put together this event!

We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend with your loved ones!  Thank you for all your support and cooperation that you have provided us!  

Before we could carve our pumpkin, we had to help clean out our pumpkin.  Some of us enjoyed cleaning out the pumpkin...we even helped two or three times!  But..not all of us!!  Some os us thought one time was more than enough!  

We read a Non-Fiction Book, Shapes Around Us.  We were able to answer questions about key details in the story, and also relate this to our own lives by identifying where we see the same shapes everywhere we go!

We read a Non-Fiction book about different tools.  We worked with a partner to identify key details in the read aloud, and map out our ideas in a Circle Map.  

I just want to say THANK YOU for taking the time out of your busy schedules to take part in your child's education and  meet for your child's Parent-Teacher Conference!  I truly appreciate your endless support, hard work, and cooperation that you have provided thus far!   Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions and/or concerns.  

We had fun using the shapes and emotions we know to help us create our jack- o-lanterns today!

We learned that a noun can be a person, place, or thing.  Today, we worked with a partner to create a 'Circle Map' of the different nouns we could think of.  
We then sorted those nouns to a person, place, or thing category on our 'Tree Map.'  We practiced sharing our maps to the class, while the friends listening practiced showing Mutual Respect, Attentive Listening, No Put Downs, and Appreciations at the end of our sharing.  

We have been working on identifying character(s) and a setting in a story.  We know that a character is a person or animal in a story, and a setting is where the story takes place.  We worked in small groups to create a 'Circle Map' to help us tell the characters and setting in the story, The Tortoise and the Hare. 

We had so much fun showing off our Ho‘okele spirit!  Thank you to Student Council for planning this fun-filled event and for making our first Ho‘okele Spirit Week and super fun and memorable one!

​Monday:  Pajama Day

We have been using our Super Power reading glasses to help us read during reading groups.  We have been working on finding and knowing what a sentence begins and ends with, using some of our reading strategies (previewing, looking at the pictures, using our sounds), and applying our high-frequency words that we know to help us read.  When reading to us, let us help by telling and showing you where we begin and end reading!
