We learned that a noun can be a person, place, or thing. Today, we worked with a partner to create a 'Circle Map' of the different nouns we could think of. We then sorted those nouns to a person, place, or thing category on our 'Tree Map.' We practiced sharing our maps to the class, while the friends listening practiced showing Mutual Respect, Attentive Listening, No Put Downs, and Appreciations at the end of our sharing. K.L.1: Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking. We have been working on identifying character(s) and a setting in a story. We know that a character is a person or animal in a story, and a setting is where the story takes place. We worked in small groups to create a 'Circle Map' to help us tell the characters and setting in the story, The Tortoise and the Hare. K.RL.3: With prompting and support, identify characters, settings, and major events in a story. |
